We're neophyte HP3000 users, and in migrating our 10BASET network to a
10/100 network switch, we noticed that the HP3000 and DTC are generating
a large number of packets (between each other?) albeit very small ones.
Overall utilisation on each port is only 1% (on 10BASET) and the traffic
is approximately 140kbps and 30 packets per second.

This occurs even when there is nothing on the network. FYI our network
is approx 40 PC users using telnet and 3 networked HP 5Si printers.

Does anyone know if this is normal? Why is the HP sending 30 packets per
send when nothing else is happening? If it's not normal, can anyone
think of the first things to look at?

Many thanks, Richard in Australia.
