Your failure has nothing to do with httpd. There is a bug in the shell's
version of malloc that is not allocating memory correctly. This bug has
been reported previously.

: cgi-scripts can and will work, or they can bomb randomly, depending on
: what sort of mood your shell is in.

: Seriously though, I have been testing a few recently which will quite
: simply fail twice, work a few times, then fail again. Generally the
: failure is at the same place, and produces the following dump from the
: child process (the parent server is unaffected and continues running):

: **** Data memory protection trap (TRAPS 68).

: I have no idea WHY it fails arbitrarily, nor can I get it to either
: consistently fail or succeed. For instance, I had two successive
: failures, and on the third attempt it worked fine (simply pressing
: the 'reload' button in Netscape while pointed at the script).

: Perhaps the above dump will ring a bell with one of the list readers.
: I, for one, am clueless on this one.

: PS - This is the 'patched' httpd 1.3 on C.50.02 plus every NS patch
: in the known universe (well almost) :-)
