In the first incarnation(s) of the prefetch flag being released there were
some problems.
To get the definitive answer to your question I suggest you read the
articles on
this feature of Image on the Adager WebSite at:

This was written by Ken Paul, who in my estimation has more experience with
this
feature than anyone I know.

Please insure that you check the Problems section and check your version of
Image, which you can do by running query and typing the version command.
