I've another 'Dave' story...

I corresponded directly with Dave for a number of years and we visited
at various events. We mostly talked about families and the project
he was most proud of, the Monterey Bay Aquarium. When his book was
published, I obviously bought a copy. However, each time I was in
California I forgot to take it along and see about getting Dave to
sign it.

I finally resigned myself to sending it to him to get it autographed,
which I did in early February'96. Towards the end of February I
received it back, personalized and autographed. And just a few short
weeks later we were all shocked and saddened to learn of his death
on March 26th.

Although I have no way of knowing for sure, my copy could very well
be the last autographed copy he did. In the book I keep the letters
we exchanged over the years. It is something that will always remind
me of a man I admired for both his business skills as well as his
interest in people.
