The two recommended methods are as follows. End the ftp with sending a
"trigger file", which can even be an empty file. Your batch file on the
Windows server watches for this file, and begins processing when this file
is received.

A second variant of this is to have the ftp job send the files with one
name, then perform a rename after sending. It may be necessary to include a
brief pause to allow the Windows server to finish writing the file to disk
before the rename. The rename can be as simple as adding or changing an
extension to the file name, or processing requirements may require one name
on your 3000, and another on your Windows server, which can be accomplished
by the rename. The batch file watches for the renamed file, in contrast to
watching for a trigger file. The reason for this is that the file is visible
under Windows as soon as the ftp begins.

This has come up from time to time, and is almost certainly in the Raven
archives. Search on keywords such as Windows, ftp, trigger file, for
previous, more involved discussions.
