DLT8000's with FWD-SCSI (HVD) interface are available from HP and from
dealers who carry used HP equipment.

You could, but I would not recommend that. The performance is going to
be
just shy of horrible. The DLT drive likes to be fed data at a good
rate.
It's already difficult to do that on an MPE system with an HVD
connection so
going through the "Fast" SE-SCSI port only worsens the situation. They
would be better off with a DDS-2.

Or you could run an LVD device on the SE channel. You'll need the
proper
cable, though.
