Hello MPE, Ian.
The required info is as below:
This message will tell you how to subscribe to the HP3000-L list (via
e-mail), what newsgroup to "monitor" (if prefered), and the location of
the archive and FAQ.
To send e-mail to the HP3000-L list:
Use the e-mail address "[log in to unmask]". You can send a message
to the list even if you are not subscribed (of course you will not see
replies to the list, only direct replies to your e-mail address). This
can be useful if you choose to "monitor" the list using a new reader
(see below).
To subscribe to the HP3000-L list:
Send a message to "[log in to unmask]". The subject can be any text
(example: "subscribe"). The body of the message should contain the
following:
subscribe HP3000-L <your-name>
Put your name, or the name you wish to see in the "from field" on your
postings in place of <your-name>. Do not use a signature as the message
is automatically process by a list server and the signature could
conceivably cause problems.
To view the HP3000-L list archive:
Use a web browser and go to
"http://raven.utc.edu/archives/hp3000-l.html". The link to the HP3000-L
archive can also be found at the bottom of the HP-3000 home page on Jazz
("http://jazz.external.hp.com"). The HP3000-L archive is "searchable"
and organized by date of posting.
To read access the HP3000-L FAQ:
Use a web browser and go to "http://www.3k.com", there is a link to the
HP3000-L FAQ. This is periodically posted to the HP3000-L list (after
updates etc). This web site is also a useful general resource on the
HP3000.
To browse the HP3000-L list using a news reader:
"subscribe" to the newsgroup "comp.sys.hp.mpe" using a newsreader (eg:
rtin, tin, agent, etc). NOTE: not all of the messages posted to HP3000-L
will make it to the newsgroup, and not all of the replies posted to
comp.sys.hp.mpe will make it to the general HP3000-L list. The later is
especially important. You can "monitor" the list using a newsreader, but
you will miss some messages. You should not use the news reader to reply
as your reply will not go to the general list (probably).
Regards,
Vikram
