Sorry for the delay, must have missed this.

I had to look back 10-12 years in our archive and the only thing I
could locate was that "F1" indicates that the (or a) servo lost tension.
One report indicated that the impedence of the upper and lower
motors be checked, the upper should be in the 8-20 ohm range, the
lower in the 2-4 ohm range. Replacing the defective motor resolved
the problem.

Take this with the usual large grains of salt since I'm a software guy
and I could only find two reports of the F1 status and only one had a
documented solution.
