I think perhaps what Tom is asking about is the fact that the IA-64 chips
will support MPE, HPUX and NT, and that there is talk of machines that can
run any of the three, and maybe even more than one of them simultaneously.

Tom, when IA-64 based machines become available from HP, it has been
reported (though not officially, I believe) that there will be models that
can run both HPUX and NT. Whether MPE will be included is less certain.
Just as the same hardware runs both HPUX and MPE, I'm sure the capability
will exist, but whether HP will license machines that way is unknown.

Tom,

For some time now there has been quite a bit of compatibility. To start:

An HP3000 can easily be configured as a TCP/IP node on an NT LAN.
Samba/iX allows NT clients to share parts of the 3000's filespace.
Java/iX and other languages support cross platform client/server
applications.
Apache/iX is an industrial strength web server for your web and intranet
needs.
