DBGENERAL's capacity change features are such that one cannot expand a set
into the jumbo world without explicitly requesting it. Furthermore, one
can create jumbo sets, including controlling the capacity of individual chunk
files, without having to exceed 4GB dataset space in case one wants to become
familiar with all the caveats of using jumbo sets while testing in a smaller
environment.

Also keep in mind that when Express 3 is released and folks begin to
implement IMAGE b-tree indexes, the same issues on HFS files will apply
here as well. And this will probably be more wide spread as there are
more smaller applications which might utilize b-tree indexes than need
the storage capacity of jumbo sets.

One also should check their other 3rd party products to ensure one has the
correct versions which support jumbo sets. There still are some who are
using older versions of COGNOS, OMNIDEX, etc., which don't support jumbos
either because of dropped maintenance or because previously there wasn't
any need to install the upgrade.... :-)

I talked with a rather large site recently who needed to go jumbo but
hadn't finished certifying a critial 3rd-party application product which
they needed in order to go jumbo. So they were struggling with their
limited capacity until they could complete the certification, update their
production systems and let it stabilize for awhile before making the leap....

All this may apply to b-trees as well....

<plug-alert>

By the way, the latest release of DBGENERAL, version 7.2, which we demo'd
at HPWorld, includes support for b-trees along with jumbo sets.

DBGENERAL's diagnostic and repair features indeed will assist in the analysis
and repair of structural problems which may arise related to jumbo sets.
