Your problem with 4.0 and Y2K has more to do with your application software
than your hardware, although there are a number of Y2K fixes to the
operating system after 4.0.  You would be much better served going to 5.5
PP7, or 6.0 pp1 (as soon as it's available).  Some of your 3rd party
software won't take kindly to this either and could cease working.

If your company hasn't done any Y2K remediation yet, then I would suggest
you start looking for another job and jump ship before you get blamed for
all the problems :).

Subject:  Query on backdating




Dear all,

I've a HP957 (HP3000) which is running on MPE/iX 4.0. The system is not Y2K
compliant.
My question is, can we backdate the system and continue to use it
in 2000 and beyond?
Any advice is greatly appreciated.
