I am moving a system from a series 42 to a 932.
1) I used the old BULDACCT routine to create a job stream to recreate the
accounting structure on the "new" 932. That seemed to work fine (except the
version we have doesn't set passwords, oh well that can be done manually).
2) While logged on a "manager.sys" I restore the files from a backup tape on
the 42 as follows:
restore *t;@[log in to unmask];show;olddate
the files restored, but now they all have "manager.sys" as the creator.
WHY???? that ain't supposed to happen.
I double checked and the creator of the files does exist on the "new" system
(manager.account)
This "don't make no sense". Any Ideas?????
Part 2 of the problem:
A program moved from the 42 to the 932 now refuses to recognize ";" as
allowing access to a IMAGE database. It says we must use the "writer"
password as defined in the database schema. I checked the schema and
retried the program using the requested "writer" password. NO DICE.
I ran query and tried both ";" and the "writer" password in case the schema
I had was outdated. Nope, it works fine.
Just to make the problem harder, there are a couple of constraints:
- no access to the source code (purchased package)
- no MPEX, DBgeneral, ADAGER, etc.
- This will have to be solved with vanilla MPE-iX capabilities.
