Okay, "you" win!

I give up!

After hashing all this coax crap out (thanks to all who responded), the
@!$#%@&&
network crashed again.  Terminating the coax to just the portion needed to 
run the DTC's allows the serial terminals to work, but the PC's are
history.

So, I have several 10BaseT cables on order for next day delivery (by 10AM) 
at which time I will rip out every last inch of coax and burn it at the 
stake.
