Can the response involve pyrotechnic compounds?

Seriously, a quick search at www.compaq.com shows that the Presario 5248 is
only supported under Windows Me, 98 and 95. There is no mention of Windows
NT, 2000 or XP so I think you do not want to install any of these on this
PC.

The 5248 has a 400MHz AMD-K6 with 64MB of slow RAM for a maximum of 384MB.

This is woefully inadequate for W2K or WXP.

PC experts:

I am trying to install either w2k or wxp on a oldish PC Compaq Presario
5248 with AMD.

The reason is that the system just froze when booting up.

The problem is the system will not go past the identify of hardware.

Any suggestions ?

Olav.
