My first and last car was an 81 Rabbit.

I drove it into the ground. I also recall driving it at such irresponsible 
speeds between Toronto and Niagara falls with my German mother-in-law 
clutching at the armrests in the back seat.

The bad part was that the windshield runoff during a rainstorm tended to 
find its way into the unfortunately placed heating system where it would 
eventually start dripping on your feet. Even that wouldn't be so terrible 
but right there at the driver's foot level was the car's fusebox.

Every time it rained, some new and wonderful electrical quirk would appear. 
The best one was when the wipers wouldn't turn off when the rain stopped.

I eventually sold it for 1$. I bought a bicycle for $50, which was about 1/4 
of what I was paying for repairs each month and I never looked back. I 
consider the Rabbit to Bicycle transition to be a huge upgrade.
