When I do a LISTF <filename>,8 on both of our MPE/iX systems on 5.0 I expect
it to fail
and it does with the following message:

Level of LISTF must be -5, or within the range -3 to 7. (CIWARN 420)

When I go into HELP on LISTF, however, I see no mention of listlevels -5, -2,
5, 7.

Does anyone else have this problem or have we not installed something
correctly?

I would first like to thank Jeff Vance for all of his hard work and positive
reaction to his
enhancement to LISTF. Secondly, I would like to ask Jeff if while whoever is
adding 8 and
9 to the help for LISTF if they could go back and document the missing
levels?

Excerpt from HELP LISTF PARMS on our machince:

listlevel Specifies the level (amount and format) of
information about the file(s) you select. The
                    default is 0.

0 Displays only the file name. This is
                                  the default.

1 Displays the file name, file code,
record size, record format, and other
                                  file characteristics ASCII or binary
                                  records, carriage control option,
                                  current end-of-file location, and the
maximum number of records allowed in
                                  the file.

2 Displays the file name, file code,
record size, record format, and other
file characteristics, such as ASCII or
                                  binary records, carriage control
                                  option, current end-of-file location,
and the maximum number of records
allowed in the file. It also displays
the the blocking factor, number of
sectors in use, number of extents
                                  currently allocated, and the maximum
                                  number of extents allowed.

3 Displays the information found with
level -1, but omit the creator,
                                  lockword, and label address. The
                                  display is formatted.

4 Displays the security matrix for the
                                  file. This includes account, group
and file-level security and the access
                                  rights for the user.

6 Displays the fully qualified filename.
                                  For example

                                  LISTF F@,6
                                  FRIDAY.FOOBAR.FOO
                                  FRISBEE.FOOBAR.FOO

-1 Displays the hexadecimal listing of
                                  the file label, including all
                                  lockwords. This level is available
only to system managers and Account
Managers. Level -1 serves only a
                                      diagnostic purpose and is subject
                                      to change.

-3 Displays the same information found
                                  with 3, but display the
                                  lockword, creator and label address
                                  as well.

For program files the #SET, STACK,
MAXDATA, TOTAL DB, CL and CAP values
are omitted. Refer to the information
                                  on VERSION under "OPERATION". You
must have System Manager (SM) or
account manager (AM) capability to use
                                  this option.

Thanks again Jeff!!!!!
