One part of the problem is the continuing decline in birth rates through
out the world.

Subject: [HP3000-L] OT: Labor market

A few years ago, I posted about how the labor market was going to change
and predicted upcoming labor shortages.

Unless you have been off the planet recently, or you are getting your
news strictly from the antique media, you probably know the unemployment
rate in the US stands at 4.7% and that jobs have been created at a
ferocious rate.

Last week, there was a story in USA Today talking about how this year
was the best year for college recruitment by employers in a very long
time.

Today, I found this report in the Palm Beach Post about employers who
cannot find people to fill jobs.

I told you in my original post that there would be labor shortages
starting in 2005-2006. We are there now. I will further go out on the
limb and predict that the labor shortage will probably be more acute
than previously predicted and will probably impact the economy, which
has been doing extremely well over the last few years.

This is not to say that all is rosy for everyone, but on a national
scale the predictions are bearing out; demographics tell the tale.
