How about tearring off the aluminum B.OT. marker. I believe that withouth
the B.O.T. it's pretty hard to differentiate each and every 1's and O's on a
tape. Furthermore, you may want to crimple the first few feet of tape pas
the B.O.T. What's your opinion on this?

We used it years ago to erase DEC cartridges we no longer needed; however,
it does tend to cut out after only a few minutes of use.

DAT is erased. Remember to work it slowly and don't forget to keep the
switch on while you *slowly* pull it away from the tape; otherwise, you may
never be able to erase the tape (some physics about it reinforcing rather
than destroying the existing magnetic patterns?).
