Greg,
I didn't see any response to this, so I looked at my archives.
The only LANERR100 errors that I've seen are different. I got:
12/05/2006
5:53/** LAN100ERR 170; Hub did not report link up within time allowed.
03/07/2009
12:29/** LAN100ERR 170; Hub did not report link up within time allowed.
They were on the same system three years apart. We had a switch go down for one of them.
I am going to guess that you have a hardware problem. What system is the happening on? Can you switch from the MFIO network port to dedicated 100-BT card?

Subject: Re: [HP3000-L] Problem with network on HP3000 / MPE-iX
Hi guys,
It has been while since we had any issues with any one of our HP3000s. However, one of our clients have been having issues and the problem is as follows:
Network goes down and it gives an erorr:
Lan100ERR 50; Driver encountered a hardware problem
Link: Link100; Loc: 51; Subloc: 8000; Status: $103202FD; Cuase: $013902FD
and after this everyone freezes. We do netcontrol stop and start and all is ok again. Can you please let us know or at least direct us to the right direction as what can the possible cause be?
Is it the network card? But if it is, why the netcontrol stop and start fixes the problem just like that?
We are running on MPE/IX 7.5 operating system. It is 928RX machine
Thank you
Greg Terterian
