LJ5SET.HPENV.SYS file is a file containing some Escape sequences to flip
the LaserJet 5Si's into a fairly useful (to our users) set-up with
landscape, line printer font, margins set for easy filing and it
basically simulates 132 (or 256) by 66 line printer paper.
This would be the equivalent of the VFC file at the end of the TTUTIL
file.
So by default (unless you specify an environment file) spool files get
this file attached to the front when they are sent off to the printer.
