As I explained earlier, if you're expecting to drive it in semi-automatic
mode, no need to configure the changer.
I have an older DD2 auto-changer and that could be configured in
semi-automatic mode; load the first tape manually, when the tape is used and
closed, it rewinds, ejects and the next tape is loaded and brought on-line
ready to be used.
You set that up with the dip switches underneath the unit.

I know I have one on somebody's site that I configured where the
auto-changer (DLT 7000 1/8) that removes the tape after backup and puts the
next one in without any commands. I think it was configured thru the LED on
the front panel for that to work.
The one I am trying to configure right now, is an old DD3 auto-changer, that
I don't believe will unload and load the next tape.

If the tape unit is an autoloader with one tape drive it will work fine with
MPE just configure as a regular DLT tape drive.. Cannot use a autochanger
that has more than 1 tape drive otherwise you will need software to
manipulate the picker between the 2 tape drives.
