Dells have been to bane of my existence when it comes to NT and, Windows 95
OSR2. However they have really beefed up their web site in the last year
or so.

Stuart, it's hero time for you. Surf on to
http://support.dell.com/filelib/ and start looking for the NT drivers that
fit your systems. I would help you further but you neglected to reveal
anything about your systems beyond saying they are Dell PCs. A model
number would have been nice, along with some of the components.

Anyways, feel free to correspond with me off-list about this issue.

Also for those of you who have problems with NT, there is a list, like this
one, dedicated to NT issues. There is a lot of knowledge on that list that
can be tapped to resolve your NT issues. So you can bitch and moan about
NT on this list, or you can decide to resolve your NT issues on the winnt-l
list, and get on with your computing life. Take it from me, (and many
others on this list) if you have problems with NT, you need to resolve
them. There is absolutely no reason why NT cannot be made very reliable on
proper hardware. (I must add that caveat.)

BTW, the list is at [log in to unmask] (Just send a subscribe
to winnt-l message.)

Kind regards,

Denys. . .

We have three Dell PC's with Windows NT workstation 4.0 with service pack 3
and we have to reboot everyday. We have virtual memory problems and have
changed settings and it does nothing. Printing to network printers might
print once and then locks up and you have to reboot the whole system.
Windows 9x may not be as secure or as seemingly reliable, but we have less
problems in all areas than Windows NT workstation.

I used NT 4.0 on PCs at HP in Atlanta for a year and only rebooted twice
in that time. I use NT 4.0 workstation on my PC at my office and I haven't
had to reboot but about once every 6 months. There must be a bad
configuration or other problems at your site.
