Hello all,

  Since Gavin brought it up...

Although I'm against performing any filtering at the gateway, I will
make some adjustments to the code *if* that is really what the majority
of people want. As I don't have the web-ballot code handy (I know
its around here somewhere) just email me with a yes/no answer and
I'll let you know the outcome in a day or two. So:

Yes = Implement a filter on the gateway
No = Do not implement a filter on the gateway.

{hmm, maybe its time to put advertising headers and footers in
there too! ;)

Regards,
Michael L Gueterman

It isn't necessary to cut the link to comp.sys.hp.mpe. There are some people
who would not only object but actually depend on the comp.sys.hp.mpe
newsgroup, as Roy Brown noted. The problem, as I apparently tried too subtly
to point out earlier, is being derived from those people who post to
multiple
newsgroups over on the newsgroup side of things.

Terry Shannon, of Shannon Knows Jack, originally posted his note to four
newsgroups. Anyone on any one of those newsgroups who responds to those
messages automatically reposts their messages to all four newsgroups, one of
which is comp.sys.hp.mpe, which cause it to eventually arrive on HP3000-L.

My suggestion is, a bit more explicitly stated this time, is that any
posting
that arrives on comp.sys.hp.mpe that has multiple newsgroups in its headers
not be gated over to HP3000-L. It that were true, we wouldn't be seeing any
of this nonsense.
