Hi Matthew,
 
I also responded to this on the HP internal MPE group, but
in case there's anyone else in this group interested in the
answer:
 
* PLUG ALERT *
NewFace/3000 provides the capability you're looking for; VPLUS
intrinsics are intercepted and routed to the client, which can
be either a PC (MS Windows) or an X-terminal or Workstation (Motif).
The user interface is then run locally on the client, with all
other functions remaining on the HP 3000 host.
 
Unlike VPLUS/Windows, which made no allowances for customizing the
client user interface, NewFace provides full GUI capabilities so
that you can change the interface to provide the look and feel of
the native GUI.  There are also hooks into the APIs that allow you
to further customize either the client or the server by adding
new functionality.
 
NewFace is marketed in North America by M.B. Foster Associates,
