I have a client running over 900 users, maybe over 1,000 by now, on an
HP 3000 Series 997/500 system with 3GB of memory. The CPU Utilization is
averaging 50% with peaks as high as 65 to 70%. CPU Queue Length is well
within the acceptable range. The online response time is very acceptable
throughout the day, averaging .2 to .4 seconds, again, with slightly
higher peaks when numerous (6 to 7) batch Suprtool jobs are running
simultaneously.

So, yes, the HP 3000 does support "large" interactive user workloads.
With the introduction of SharePlex Clusters, the interactive user counts
will be able to go well above 1,000.

Actually, the critical factors in such a large configuration are data
locality, database organization, and application logic.

        Subject: 800 Users on a HP3000

I have been asked by the client I am working on, what happens
when 800 users
are signed on to a HP3000 computer. Since I don't know any
HP3000 sights that
have that many users signed on concurantly, I thought I would
put a post on
the 3000 list to find ought if there were any sights that were
of that size.

If you have 800 or more users signed onto one or more HP3000's
concurrently
        please let me know.
