Thanks Donna I made the change, checked the cf file and it did remove 
the '#'. I ran another test to my home account and it still converted the 
characters an alt 103 'é' on the 3000 to another character in this case a 
capital a with small circle over it.  

I just don't know if this can be fixed unless there is a way of having the 
receiving end open the email in a specific character set. The other way may 
be to send the French email in HTML format using the HTML form &#xxx for the 
special characters but I would have to figure out how to tell the recipient’s 
email how the document should be opened.
