I guess I favor the 50,000 limit ... or even the current 10,000 limit!,
paired with a new command/feature to move older files to an archiving
area.  In the "archive" area, they would just be ordinary spool
files, not in the domain of the 50K/10K/whatever limit, not visible
via normal SPF commands, but easily recoverable back into the spooler's
domain, if necessary (e.g., the user says: I lost my report, can
you print another copy).
