There are two companies that I know of (this may not be an exhaustive list),
which make backup products for all five of the platforms mentioned by Ed,
including the HP3000, based on the material I found on these companies' home
pages.  The first has already been mentioned, HICOMP's product, HIBACK
(http://www.hicomp.com/hicomp).  The second is Legato's product, NetWorker
(http://www.legato.com/documents/releases.html).  The client software for
Legato on the HP3000 is very new and has only recently been added to the CPL.
A data sheet on this product will be available in the next few weeks.

Of course, if you are looking for a backup solution for a different platform
set, you may wish to investigate other products.  Both Unison and Orbit also
make backup products for the 3000 and other platforms.  If you find a product
that meets your needs but does not support the HP3000 (such as InterLink's
product, Harbor, mentioned in an earlier message) I would be very interested
in hearing about it.  3K Associates have a very nice "database" of
products for the HP3000 and HP9000 (http://www.3k.com), which is a good
starting point.

In my current role I am looking at ways to help enhance existing HP3000
products or add new products to the HP3000, especially in the area of Data
Center Management.

* For those customers with an HP3000 in a heterogeneous environment, what
data center management issues are you facing?

* Are you finding cases where some or all of the other computers seem to
work well together, but not the HP3000?

* Are there any software or hardware system management products that you use
on other platforms that you would like to see work on/with the HP3000?

* For those of you looking at new backup strategies, what decision factors
and criteria are you using to determine the best backup product for your
environment?
