I am a 'fairly knowledgeable' user who has, due to necessity, had to delve
deeply into the guts of various 3000s that were at my disposal. I was
seeking a little more information about the experiences of other 'fairly
knowledgeable' types who might have made changes to these files.

mean that IODEVACC is NOT used after B.40.00, and that IODFAULT is used
instead?

[Looks to me like it would be very nice to add your own device names to the
list; they'll make a lot more sense at config time than the alternative
choosing a listed device that happens to have the settings yours needs.

Yes, it says

The file should not be modified by any one other than qualified Hewlett-
Packard personel or a user knowledgable of its use and structure.

and knowledge is what Glenn's seeking ;-)]
