If your machine was out of warrenty, did you try PC Power & Cooling,
http://www.pcpowercooling.com/home.htm. I find their power supplies and fans
to be more quiet then the "normal". Of course noise might not be a critical
to you and you did say the size of your power supply is smaller then the
normal so this site might not apply to you.

I'm getting the feeling I'm late to the party in announcing that my Pavilion
blew a power supply - and because it is a smaller than standard size had to
order it from HP. at 3x the cost of just getting it at Fry's or CompUSA.

Or that all this happened May 30th - I call HP Parts Direct and am told that
(a) the part# has changed (read they knew there's a problem?) (b) they are
out of stock (c) more are coming in June 7th.

I am told that I have to pay and order to get a delivery time.

So now today I am told that expected delivery time is June 26th! This mind
you on a computer that had critical files that we can't get.

The parts guy today is only too happy to give me his supervisor.

Now, you gotta love this. When I ask the supervisor why they are out of
stock on a part that HP apparently knows is a problem - his answer is
"because they are back ordered".

Duh.

When I ask who I can write to to complain he wants to simply give me the HP
corporate address. He knows of nobody in charge of PCs or Pavilions.

I'm getting old enough to realize that I should focus on things that help my
business and quit spinning my wheels on this.

I can tell you it will be no more HP Pavilions for me.

Oh, the standard sign off for HP Parts Direct was something like "Thank you
for ordering from HP Parts Direct.".

Bill
