I also don't want to speak for Birket, who as we all know, has no
problem doing this for himself :-).
However, my understanding is that ODBCLINK is tighly integrated into
the DataExpress product for all of its advanced security features and
dictionary info/etc required for handling various data sources. Unbundling
this would defeat the 'value proposition' that MB Foster has carefully
crafted for the existing product. One might conclude that this is
a finely tuned plan based on 'leverage'. Or one could conclude its
a plan designed to frustrate the US because we keep winning the
Stanley Cup and Birket is mad as hell about it :-).
In fact, the undbundled version of ODBCLINK is ODBCLINK/SE, the new 32
bit driver that is licensed to HP, soon (we all hope and assume)
to be released. And its free.
