I'm probably misunderstanding your question but if you are looking for the
new Date Intrinsics that have been discussed here quite a while ago (i.e. date
conversions and date operations) then you might find the XL and SYSINTR type
file on Jazz somewhat useful (haven't tried it myself so far).

This sounds like the difference between READ and READX intrinsics to me (the
former takes ":" in 1st column as EOF marker, the latter checks for ":EOD").
No idea, though, if the changed behaviour on 5.5 is intentional or not.
