Esc&w6f80X      Set 80-column mode
Esc&w6f132X     Set 132-column mode
 
I don't know how to sense the mode, but I'm sure someone on the list
does.  Also, you may need to adjust the right margin to type beyond the
80th column.  Anyone know if this is necessary?
