has 4 devices presently connected to it. I would like to max. out each system
by adding 3 more 2 gig drives to each 6000 system. That would make a total of
10 devices per single ended controller. My problem is that I do not have any
additional slots available to add more controllers and fast wides are not an
option. So my question is, how many devices are supported on a Single Ended
SCSI controller and how do I set the SCSI address switches??
Any help would be appreciated

We have two simliar storage systems on our 980/200 system, each containing 3
2gb drives, making a total of 6 drives on one single ended SCSI controller,
with a cable length totalling 4.5 meters, running without any problems.
I believe the maximum number of devices are 16, but dont hold me to
that......an engineer told me some months ago, although he recomended no more
than 8. But I think you would run into a problem well before you hit 10. You
are limited to a 6 metre cable length from the SCSI card to the end
terminator, this includes any internal wiring in each drive. We over-reached
the 6 meters by 1.5 meters (7.5 in total) and experienced problems in
reading/writing to the discs, as soon as we reduced this, to 4.5 meters in
total the problem disappeared.
As to the configuring the SCSI address switches, I am unsure.
I hope this information is helpful to yourself.
