Well, if you have zero money to spend, but lots of time and some fun
programming with Java or Perl or C, then you could probably dig up
some source code in the HP3000-L archives using FakeLP or FakeLP.java
as keyword, which can be used to receive output of the MPE jetdirect
spooler on a socket. You would then enhance that example to strip out
all unwanted PCL escape codes (or even replace them by appropriate OKI
control codes) and then forward that to the OKI printer via another
socket connection.
However, you might just be re-inventing yet another 3rd party spooler.
It's probably much easier to look into one or more of those 3rd party
spooling packages that can drive 3rd party (and hp) network printers
to see which one matches your feature and budget requirements.
