Me, again.

Some additional information regarding my Cheshire File...

The file is a plain ol' flat file (80 bytes FA) which the application
code looks for upon start-up. If the file is present, the application
attaches for write only. If the file is not there, the application
skips the logging sections. The application is very busy during
the day with many users in it all day and other going in and out
of the application. The key point is that the file's create and restore
dates are always the same as well as the creator so it has to be
the same file.

We only have a part-time operators so night-time restores do
not happen unplanned or unnoticed.

I was intrigued by someone's suggestion that possibly writing
to a file which had been purgelink'ed might re-establish the
directory entry. Does this ring a bell with anyone?

Of course, it could still be nocturnal file fairies...

TIA,
Chip Dorman
