As I understand it, MPEX builds a new, larger file, copies the data, purges
the old and then renames the new file to the original file's name. This is
basically what a user would do today, unless they had access to a
low-level, trusted file routine as Stan has outlined. Disclaimer: MPEX may
have changed in more recent versions.... [...]43_31Mar199911:50:[log in to unmask]

Another alternative is reverse NRJE (I'm assuming VM habla NRJE?) where
VM submits a job to the 3000 which pushes the file back across to the VM
system.
