IMHO, the box comes with a license.  Period.
HP has never sold a 3000 without a license, nor a license
without a 3000.

They may try to claim otherwise, and they may have expensive lawyers,
but they don't have the high moral ground here ... *we* do.

Note: lawyers trump morals :(

Only if HP can produce paperwork showing that the original
purchaser agreed to such a restriction.   Absent that, attempts
to enforce such a claim might be viewed as attempted "restraint
of trade" :)
