Hmm, so I'd go to your MS link and download the MSDE, then load the
tools from my EE CD. I do recall a separate load from the CD for just
the tools.

Thanks, I'll try that route tonight.

On another note, I'm really PO'd at the local college because they
surely know that this is a problem, yet they made no mention of this
snag in the course prereq's or syllabus. One might even go so far as to
accuse the local college of being, umm, dishonest? (ok, blowing off
steam again - sorry).

Again, thanks to all who've helped.

Life is not a journey to the grave with the
intention of arriving safely in a pretty and
well preserved body, but rather to skid in
broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out,
and loudly proclaiming:
-- WOW!!! What a Ride!!!

OK, in that case the answer is "No, you cannot install SQL Server
Enterprise
Edition" on your XP. However, if you load the MSDE version on XP and
then load
the Tools (Enterprise Manager, Query Analyzer, etc.) from your
Enterprise
Disc, you'll essentially have the same thing (without the replication
stuff I
believe - but I doubt that is what you're trying to do...)
