Actually chr() has been available since BEFORE MPE/XL 2.1.

I can't say exactly because chr() was not listed in the Communicator
for MPE/XL 1.0 (according to the LaserROM), but my photocopy of
Appendix B was made prior to 2.1, because I hand-updated it with
the then-new functions.

Who's the MPE historian, anyway? ;)
