Steve, in Mar '99 we purchased an HP's DLT7000 for each of our HP3k's
(~$10k each) and placed them on support maintenance. So far, HP has
replaced 2 of the 3 DLT drives that we depend on daily. We recently just
added a Non-HP DLT7000 from Digitape (~$3500) so that we can make
offsite backup copies and works fine. Digitape has already replaced it
as it went haywired for some reason and was covered by a 3-mo warranty.
You may want to consider device supportability if you depend on it
drive.

Subject: DLT on 3000

The ADIC DLT I have on my 3000 is close to the end of warranty and I am
looking to get a second one anyway.

Anyone know if the HP Surestore DLT can be used on a 3000. The
compatibility web page for that item does not mention MPE. (I should
note that the compatibility web page indicates it was last updated TUE
01 JAN, 1970 00:00:00 GMT!)

thx
