Dear Fellow Listers:

From the Interex hot news, an interesting article on HP efforts to
"make it easier for end users and developers", "speed deployment", and
"create this unified Internet development environment", form an HP
Division not beholding to Unix or NT. The goal is that "Developers will
no longer have to switch desktop systems or development tools to
develop" web-based applications and services in the future.
Evidently IASD is not on board with the newest HP initiatives bringing
the HP3000 fully into the HP Enterprise Server Strategy. It seems to me
that "C", Java, and Netscape are all offered on the HP3000. Wouldn't it
be nice if HP's vision of offering "a single toolset for writing or
tuning applications for Web servers could be extended to include MPE Web
servers as well? Isn't the concept of ensuring that "The resulting
programs are portable and can be deployed quickly on multiple operating
systems" a valid one for MPE? Or isn't MPE considered a valid operating
system outside of CSY?
Come on Nigel and IASD, give those of us advocating the HP3000 a break.
Open your minds to the possibility, the reality of MPE.
Come on list, what do you think?
