In July 1993, a committee within 3M picked UNIFACE as the language
of choice for all future developement.

Now I cannot speak for all of 3M, but in the division I am on contract
in, one plant started a project in UNIFACE. After several months,
a COBOL system was taken there and modified for the project, as
apparently the UNIFACE did not work out (notice the "smug" look on
my face, as I happen to be a COBOL programmer, who is not ready to
throw my twenty three years of experience out the window for any new
 language that comes along!).

I have not heard a word about UNIFACE since. For a while, the talk
was of C++, and now it is all about NT and Powerbuilder. While in
REALITY, the business is running on COBOL, IMAGE HP3000, and COBOL,
 IBM mainframe systems.

You "betcha" you're from Minnesota when...

You know the four seasons - Winter, Still Winter, Not Winter
                  and Almost Winter.
You find it exciting to stare through a hole in the ice and look
    at the bottom.
You think everyone from a different state has an accent.
