Thanks  to  everyone  who  responded  to my query on  "problem  with  Pascal
readln() on MPE".  Thanks to everyone for suggesting me the alternatives and
also some coding  guidelines.  Finally my code as modified by Jeff Vance did
serve my purpose.  It solved my problem.  Thanks Jeff.
