Presuming it uses SMTP, I'd think you'd have to convince the hosting site to open up a hole through the firewall to let port 25 through.
Although I'd name it the INVENT3K machine for purposes of this thread.
It does bring up an interesting concept for Empire, how many incoming emails would I tolerate to know that Nation Z attacked me in sector X,Y ?
