If I recall correctly (likely not) from my tour of the Kennedy Space
Center about 19 years ago, the transport platform that carried the
Saturn V assemblies of Apollo (and presumably still used for the
shuttles) gets worse mileage, measured in inches per gallon.  Maybe they
have changed the gearing, but it was originally designed to carry the
tremendously heavy Saturn V assembly (that is definitely a Wirt
question, so I'll hush with my fuzzy nostalgia on the topic).
