That's a great idea, assuming I will still be able to use the DAT tape for
backups without the firmware update.
What is involved in adding a CD-ROM (to a 917LX)? Can you just attach a
generic SCSI CD-ROM and will it automatically be recognized? Could I just
borrow one from another machine and attach it when I need to install updates
? Also, can you do the same thing with external SCSI hard disks?
(Remembering many happy hours trying to find xx,xxx contiguous blocks for
past MPE upgrades.)
