Hi Eben,

we're using Sendmail/iX (Mark Bixby) and QPOPPER (Neil Harvey Assoc.) with great
success.
I read my POP3 emails via Netscape. But I'm sure the same will work with
Micro$oft products.

The main point: you need to activate the eMail mechanism and a POP3 listener on
the HP3000.

You may have a look to an article I wrote together with Mark Bixby and Jens von
Buelow:
Freedom to Mail from Your 3000, for Free
which can be found at http://www.hillschmidt.de/gbr/ under Published Articles.

We updated in between our commandfiles SENDMAIL, SENDBACK, and SENDFILE
just let me know if you want to have the updated versions.

Good Luck,
Best regards, Andreas Schmidt, CSC, Germany

Subject: HP3000 SMTP/POP3 e-mail

Hi. I want to set up an e-mail system on our HP3000's that allow for users
to receive e-mail from within job streams when reports are completed, and
also for programmers to receive e-mail's when certain jobs have error
conditions. I am in the process of configuring desklink/netmail, but I'm
confused (can't get it to work) and am wondering if there is a simple and
easy way to get it done. Too bad it's not as easy as running a listener
job, then configuring MS Outlook to point to the HP and pick up the
e-mail... or is it?

As always, thanks for any input.
