Just to throw a little cold water on an otherwise excellent tirade, if you
use divorce rates as an indicator of family stability and an adherence to
family values, you find that as a general trend, the states that pride
themselves with the highest "Christian" ethics also have the highest divorce
rates.

Of course, the situation is more complicated than merely that. Those same
states also tend to have relatively low education rates and higher than
normal levels of poverty.
