As a slight aside, let me recommend the book "CJKV Information Processing"

   http://www.oreilly.com/catalog/cjkvinfo/noframes.html

to anyone who has even the slightest excuse to be interested in the
computer processing of oriental languages. This book has virtually
everything you could ever want to know about how languages like
Japanese are handled by computer.
